Recently I decided to have a look at a really wicked write-up in Entrepreneur Magazine and saw that there is a thing called a skype phone spreading over the web .These two are now loaded beyond their wildest dreams because of selling their brainwave to one of the premier sites on the web,e bay.So why am I getting so pumped up?.It is called voice over internet protocol.It is not a new idea, making long distance calls over the internet for free.

The implications are obvious, the first being that if you can connect a video phone to skipe, you can talk and see just about anyone anywhere in the world.It is essentail you get a rapid connection as quickly as you can.Fantastic pictures are not guaranteed however if your connection is slow.

So I went on Ebay and guess what, they are flogging phones already due to skyp.I guess it's been around for about a year already but it's catching on fast..

The bigger commercial telecom firms are beginning to sell voice over internet protocol packages.All the telecom gurus are watching voip closely thinking that maybe it will crash and burn.Will the net spell the end for voice over ip.

If past experience is anything to go by then we can expect the big players to examine voip in microscopic detail.The most likely scenario is that the federal govt will want a slice of the action by regulation.Skype are charging to make phone calls to cell phones and local regular phones, and that's called skyping out,etc.

It looks like voice over interet protocol is also at the forefront of web video conferencing as well. Voice Over IP comes pretty close, except that it will be eventually typified as an internet phone service, ready to take that next step of video conferencing which gained a lot of attention years ago.

My opinion is that audio and video over the web, especially over a broadband connection will gain in popularity.Many people think video and audio will be a passing fad but all the evidence points to the contrary.

But one thing is for certain, it's not just hype they're muttering about, and only time will tell if the general public will catch on when they get their free skype download.We will know fairly soon how it performs .
